I might not be a very good golfer, but I've spent a lot of time on the various local courses over the years.  I can say, with certainty, that early fall is the perfect time to play golf in the Lake Tahoe region.  Why, you ask?  It's a combination of things . . .

Golf courses in the Lake Tahoe and Truckee region have tons of snow on them in the winter.  Once it melts off in the spring, it takes a while for the courses to reach their peak condition.  By early fall everything is healthy and perfect.  The greens are smooth and fast, and the fairways are lush.

It's no secret that a lot of people visit us in the summer.  With the extraordinary quality of our golf courses, there are a lot of people who hit the course during the summer.  It is a secret, though, that once school starts, there aren't many people who come up here.  What does that mean for golfers?  It means you'll frequently feel like you have the golf course to yourself!!

Another great perk is that most of the courses offer discounted green fees or extended twilight rates.

 . . .

In other words, if you golf in Truckee or Lake Tahoe in the fall, you'll get great conditions on some incredible course, fast pace of play, and discounted rates.  What's not to like?!

Here are links to my favorite local courses:  Tahoe Donner, Coyote Moon, Gray's Crossing, Northstar, Squaw Valley.
