Living in Truckee and Lake Tahoe - Halloween
It's almost time for my favorite holiday of the year!!!! There's just something about all the creative costumes, scary jack o'lanterns, and smiling faces which really makes Halloween fun for me. The Truckee community has a great array of Halloween events for both the young and the young at heart. I won't even try to name off all the events, but just highlight a couple of the most popular:
Trick or Treat, Downtown Truckee: Friday, October 29th, there is a HUGE Halloween event for the kids from 5:30 to 7:30pm. There's a haunted house at the old Truckee Hotel, trick or treating at most of the downtown merchants, a costume contest at the Train Depot parking lot, and the part the kids love the most . . . the parade of costumes!! At 6pm all the kids get to parade down the street in their costumes!!! For more details, click here.
Not -So-Haunted House and Trail of Terror, Tahoe Donner: Friday October 29th, and Saturday October 30th, the Tahoe Donner Homeowner's Association hosts a "Not-So-Haunted House" for the little guys from 5 to 8pm and a "Trail of Terror" for the braver types from 8:30 to 10pm. Gateway Trick or Treat: Last, but certainly not least, Truckee's Gateway Shopping Center (Safeway) and Gateway neighborhood are the place to be for trick or treating on Halloween. Starting at 5pm on Sunday Oct. 31st, all the kids will be trick or treating from the merchants in the shopping center and the homes in the neighborhood.
Have a wonderful and safe Halloween, and watch out for those ghouls and goblins!!
