Most of the major Lake Tahoe and Truckee ski resorts have been announcing their season pass prices for the 2010/11 season during the last couple weeks.  As avid skiers, we are very intrigued to see how competitive all the resorts are getting both with pricing and also special add ons.  Over the last couple years, Lake Tahoe and Truckee resorts have become so competitive that one can buy season passes at 2 different mountains for a lower cost than what you might have spent for 1 mountain 3 or 4 years ago.  It's also nice that most resorts provide options.  While you can buy unlimited use passes, most resorts also give options for mid week passes and slightly restricted passes (typically blacked out during holiday weekends and/or saturdays).

Most of the really good deals are only available for advance purchase.  For example, Squaw Valleys current prices will go up if you don't purchase before early May 2010.  Other resorts, such as Sugar Bowl and Northstar, will you let you ski the rest of this season free if you buy your 2010/11 pass now.  Alpine Meadows allows you to pay $100 now, and pay the rest by the end of October.  We recommend you take adavantage of the opportunities while you can!!
