Snow, Snow, Snow, Snow . . . SNOW!!
You may have noticed that our blog has been a little quiet the last couple of weeks. Yes, we've been busy selling houses, but the bigger distraction has been the massive amounts of snowfall that have hit the Truckee Tahoe area in the last 2 weeks. The numbers, and the snowbanks, are truly staggering. All of my life I've had vague memories, and heard many stories from my Dad, about the famous "winter of 82-83". Well, by most accounts, this winter has passed that one up . . . and it's still not over!!! Squaw Valley has recorded the most snowfall in its history (open since 1950) with 672 inches of snowfall so far this year. Our favorite weather blog, which adds up the daily totals and reports them on its "resort totals" page has multiple resorts accumulating over 700 inches of snowfall! That's right 700 INCHES!!! Maybe more impressive are the numbers just from the last 12 days. During that period Sugarbowl ski area is reporting 217 inches of snowfall! Alpine Meadows is reporting 232 inches for the same period!
By the way . . . it's still snowing!!
