I hope you're not sick of hearing about the snowfall up here, because I love talking about it!!!  As 2010 comes to an end, the skiing and the weather is the dominant story throughout the Lake Tahoe and Truckee Region.  Ski resorts such as Squaw Valley and Northstar are glowing with excitement over record early season snowfall, and record numbers of skier visits.  The overwhelming sentiment throughout Tahoe seems to be, "The skiing is good, business is good, people are happy!!!"

The latest storm (Tuesday night) brought another 2+ feet of snow to most of the ski resorts.  At this point, most of the resorts have already received well over 50% of their average annual snowfall (see this chart) and we just started winter!  The US Natural Resources Conservation Service has also measure the snowpack (not the snowfall, but the accumulation and associated water content) at 200% of the average amount for the month of December.  Not only are these great times for skiing, but also point towards good things for our lakes and rivers.

I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays, and I hope to see all of you up here taking advantage of mother nature's gift soon!
