As our first major winter storm of the season looms over the Lake Tahoe/Truckee region, I'm eager to get out and slip and slide in the snow . . . on my skis, of course!!  I'm certainly not alone in my desire to reach the slopes, but I'm also not alone in the need to be reminded that getting to the slopes can be quite exciting . . . and dangerous.  No matter how much you've driven in the snow, it's important to take a moment to refresh your body and mind on the nuances of icy roads.  This recent Sierra Sun article is a great refresher, along with the often heard statement amongst locals, "4 wheel drive . . . it will help you go, but it won't help you stop!"
