In the last 15 years Northstar at Tahoe has changed from a family ski resort which was barely on the radar, to a world renowned destination resort which still puts families first. How did such a major change happen in such a short time . . . Real estate development.
In the early 2000’s, developer, East West Partners, put together a plan to take the sleepy existing village and turn it into “The” Village at Northstar. The Village is now a sprawling pedestrian play ground which rivals those of long renowned destination resorts like Vail, Beaver Creek, and Whistler. The Village at Northstar offers luxury residences ranging in size from studios in the $300,000’s to 4 bedroom penthouse suites worth over $2.5 million. There is also a Ritz Carlton, located mid mountain, which offers residences in the $1 million to $5 million range. No matter what your price range or size constraints for real estate, The Village, and Ritz Carlton, have a ton to offer in restaurants, shops, and entertainment.
Aside from the The Village itself, Northstar has numerous other opportunities for homeownership. The ski area and subdivision came into existence in the 70’s and has been considered a “high end” subdivision since its inception. Single family homes start as low as $500,000, but the majority of homes are valued between $800,000 and $2.5 million. There are also luxury estate homes in the Mountainside and Big Springs area of Northstar. These homes frequently offer incredible views, ski-in/ski-out locations, and are valued between $3 million and $10 million.
If you are looking for condo ownership in Northstar, but don’t need to be in the heart of the village, there are numerous condos which were built in the early days of the resort. Most are within reasonable walking distance, or a short shuttle ride (the entire community has 24 hour shuttle service), to The Village. These condos start in the mid $200,000’s and go up to $750k.
Fractional residences are also available at the Ritz Carlton and Hyatt Residence Club.
Northstar Amenities: Not only does Northstar have The Village, and the large and family friendly ski resort, but it also has numerous other amenities to offer to property owners. The Northstar Property Owners Association boasts a championship golf course, tennis center, elaborate pool and spa facility, and summer mountain biking (trail riding or chairlift accessed downhill riding). www.npoa.info
